Maternity clothes

Aaaaaaahhh..... No more Bella band. That thing was cool at the beginning but it was starting to IRK ME OUT!!!! What a cool concept though; to be able to wear your normal pants until they can no longer stretch any further... Totally saves money and time from having to buy maternity clothes!

I actually THOUGHT that MAYBE because of the petite person that I am, I'd be able to get away with wearing the bella band for the entire pregnancy. UHH. YEAH RIGHT! So much for that... I was totally stretching my slacks and jeans TO THE LIMIT... Jason was hella laughing at how obtuse of an angle my zipper was before putting the band on... Hahaha. Just two weeks ago, during work I finally decided that the bella band NEEDED TO GO! The zipper in my slacks was hella poking me and it was frikkin hurting to the point where I couldn't even concentrate at work!!! I even left work early cuz it hurt that bad!!! So yeah, that day marked my transition into maternity pants AND BOY DOES IT FEEL HELLA BETTER!!! Thank God!!! I just really didn't want to spend a lot of money on maternity clothes... but seeing that I got 4 months to go, I could wear out these maternity slacks for a while and get my monies worth!!! It wasn't too expensive anyway... $25 at Motherhood... Not bad!!!

Aside from having to buy maternity clothes, I've also been feeling Jacob a lot more lately and throughout the day now! It's crazy. I can sometimes even see his kicks from the outside... So weird! Jason also finally got to feel Jacob's kicks last night! I felt so bad that he was being left out by this experience cuz for the past few days, everytime he'd put his hands on my belly there was no movement comin from Jacob. It was like Jacob was out to spite his Daddy, hahahaha. But finally, FINALLY, Jason felt one of his strong kicks and he was all "Was that it?" And I was like "Yeah!!" hella laughing cuz it was cute to see him all amazed, too :)

Exciting times!!! I can't wait to be a Mommy, but even more so, I can't wait to be a parent with Jason :) I know we'll make a great team!

All Clear

Ultrasound results came back and the placenta and fluid are in the right place and the baby is normal!! Yay for Jacob! I feel so relieved... Also, AFP screening test came back and it came out negative for down syndrome and other birth defects!!! Yay again!!!

Thank you Lord!! I'm so happy and relieved to have a healthy baby!

19 weeks

Here is our baby boy at 19 weeks.....

...and we've decided to name him Jacob Jose Villaverde :) His middle name is after his Great Grandpa and Grandpa. His Great Grandpa is Jose Pepe and his Grandpa (Jason's dad) is Pepito, so what will that make Jacob? Pepito-ito? LOL. Anyway, somehow Jason's generation got skipped when it came to naming a son Jose, so we thought it would be nice to make it his middle name... Plus, Jacob will be the first in his generation to carry the Villaverde name :) Yay!!

Yesterday, I had another ultrasound, but this time at the lab to have Jacob all measured up... Unfortunately, he was sleeping and we couldn't get him to move so our lab tech was having a hard time measuring :( To get him to move, she made me get on all fours (knees and hands) and just stay there cuz maybe gravity would get Jacob to move, hahaha. MUN. I had to stay in that position for like 5 minutes maybe? AWKWARDS!!! Anyway, it helped a little and Jacob stretched enough for her to measure him, so hopefully when we get the results we'll find out he's growing fine.

The highlight of our ultrasound though was seeing him rub his eyes!! So cute!!! Even the lab tech was amazed to see him rub his eyes, too!!!

BTW, my due date is apparently December 1st now, so I guess it won't be a Thanksgiving baby?! Who knows....?!?!

My Parents

The most awkward question for me to answer or statement that I've gotten since being pregnant is "Are your parents excited?" or "Your parents must be excited"... I think EVERYONE has asked me that, and the truth is, my parent's reaction to us having a baby was a complete opposite of Jason's mom's reaction on the video.... I mean, I know they're happy, but I don't know... I guess, they just don't know how to show emotion. THAT, or they're just shit scared about me taking another step into adulthood.... It's just soooo weird......I mean, I think we got a better and bigger reaction when we told them we got a house! GEEZ! Even when we told them that we were having a boy, my Dad was like "Ohhhhh..." like it was whatever... My mom had a better reaction... but since those two announcements, I've had no conversations about my pregnancy with my parents..... frikkin WEIRD ....Well, there was this one time when I was talking to my Mom when she was in PI and she actually asked how the baby was and if I felt him move and seriously, I was caught off guard... I totally did not expect for her to ask about the baby and so we talked for a bit. That's it .... And since they've been back, it's almost as if in their eyes, I'm not pregnant at all ..... Kinda sad, right? Yeah, it is... and at first it made me sad .... but the only thing that keeps me from breaking down is the hope that when our baby boy is born, their reaction will totally be different and it will be reality to them that they finally have a Grandson. Let's just hope....

I'm just thankful for all our friends and family that have been so excited and so supportive of us....Sometimes I think it's kinda sad to see my Aunts and Uncles be more excited than my parents. Like one time, they were all talking in a circle with my mom there and my Uncle announces us having a boy... MY UNCLE announces it before MY MOM does! WTH? You'd think she'd be excited to spread the news first! Frikkin when we told Jason's parents, the news spread like wildfire! LOL... MUN. Oh well... I'm just totally appreciative of all my Aunts and Uncles being happy for us because it totally offsets the reaction (or shall I say NON-reaction) that I've been getting from my parents.

Hopefully it'll get better.... we'll see....

Chinese Calendar FAIL

So much for the Chinese Calendar.... Looks like we're having a BOY!!!!!!!!!!

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and since Jason came a long, we got a freebie ultrasound :) Our pregnancy weekly update told us we could find out as early as this week, and they were sure right!!!! We didn't think we'd be able to find out until our 18th week, but when the doctor did the ultrasound, it was pretty obvious we were going to have a BOY ...... It was hard to really make out how she was able to see that it was obvious.. it seriously looked like a blob from the angle that she was viewing, but when she showed us how there was somethin poppin out in between the V-formation that was HIS legs, we were like, "Ohhhhhhhhh....." LOL ... CRAZY!!!!

Our baby boy is soooo much bigger at 15 weeks than when we last saw him at 11 weeks... it's pretty crazy how fast he's growing even though I'm barely showing!!

Finally!! A VILLAVERDE BOY!!!!!!! The pressure's off! LOL

Why is it that now I know it's a boy, I hella want to go shopping for boy clothes... LMAO... There are hella cute boy fits right now at Old Navy!!! OH MUN. LOL

Pregnancy Weekly Update

An e-mail I got for my pregnancy weekly update....

How your life's changing:
You've probably gained about 5 pounds by now (a little more or less is fine, too) and are well into the swing of your pregnancy, but you may still be surprised by an unexpected symptom now and then. If your nose is stuffed up, for instance, you can probably chalk it up to the combined effect of hormonal changes and increased blood flow to your mucous membranes. This condition is so common, there's even a name for it: "rhinitis of pregnancy." Some pregnant women also suffer nosebleeds as a result of increased blood volume and blood vessel expansion in the nose.

Hah! Interesting that I got this today because my nose bled this morning.... Plus, Jason's been complaining that I breathe hella loud when I sleep. LOL. I can't help it!

First Trimester

When Jason and I first found out we were having a baby it was a few days before my 30th.... I was only a week late, but I was in denial that I could be pregnant. Maybe it was just me trying to not set myself up for dissapointment. Well, when I took the test, it said "YES+" so I was definitely pregnant, but still.... even then.... I was doubtful.... I was scared that the worst would happen again and I would have another miscarriage.....Weeks went by and at 7 weeks we had our first doctor's appointment and that's when it hit me... I WAS FRIKKIN PREGNANT. As soon as she did the ultrasound and I heard the heartbeat, I was like "THANK YOU GOD" The baby is in there..... My fear was that the doctor was going to do the ultrasound and find nothing like the last time.... but sure enough, there was something there... WITH A HEARTBEAT. And what made me even more relieved was that my doctor said "Once you hear the heartbeat, your chances of having a miscarriage are 2%." 2%!!!! I FELT so much better after that.....

But then weeks went by... and I was still worried... it was more because of the symptoms I WASN'T feeling like any normal pregnant woman would feel... No nausea, no vomiting, not even frequent pee-ing, no food aversions or strong sense of smell... NOTHING. I was beginning to think that there was something wrong with me. Seriously. I just kept praying and saying to myself - as long as I'm not getting any bad symptoms (bleeding, etc.) there should be nothing to worry about... I AM FINE and the baby's FINE.... I kept needing to tell myself that over and over again just to reassure myself.....

So finally at 11 weeks, we get our 2nd appointment and she does the ultrasound again, and we see the baby ... and this time a lot bigger (1 cm vs. 4.49 cm)!! And although we didn't get to hear the baby's heartbeat again this time, as she pushed that ultrasound tool on my stomach, we actually got to see the baby's arms flailing around! Jason and I were like "OMG! Is that the baby's hands moving?!?" We were totally amazed and completely overjoyed... my eyes were tearing so much I could barely see, and my eyeliner was getting into my eyes I had to squint! I came out of that appointment feeling so different about the pregnancy...and finally excited...

We're having a baby!!! Yaaaaaaaay!
