Per Archie's Request

Archie: what's your opinion on obama's and mccain's healthcare strategy?
(since you're in that field)
me: ahhh...good question.... I'm definitely ALL for Obama's strategy although i doubt it'll ever happen. He'll be so busy with the financial crisis that he won't have time to deal with healthcare. McCain THINKs
Obama's strategy is a single payer system where everybody is insured, but its not....its just another option...if you DONT have insurance through your employer, you have the option of getting insurance like the kind that congressmen get... thats it.
me: if you go to a hospital w/o any insurance, you have the option to buy this kind of insurance at the point of care... and then hospitals won't be stuck with an uninsured patient (IF the patient chooses to
purchase the insurance)
me: want me to keep going???? hahahaha... I don't like McCain's healthcare policy for many reasons... but I don't want to bore you...
Archie: oh yeah keep going my boss keeps walking around so i keep alt tabbing and can't IM you back
me: hahahaha. oh okay... i thought maybe you were reading my IM and thinking oh mun... i just opened up a can of worms. hahahha
Archie: i'm still unclear about having a choice to buy insurance from different states. why would that be advantagious or not?
me: it opens up more options for the consumer thus making it more competitive for insurance companies...so you'd THINK the premiums would go down because plans are competing more...its not a good idea...if
people choose to go for an insurance in texas vs. purchasing something
in CA theres no regulation for it. you wont be under CA law....state law is a lot more strict than federal law... like your insurance is required to have mental health benefits...required to have maternity benefits... lots of restrictions that benefit the consumer...but once you get insurance outside of CA, there's no telling what kind of benefits you'll get from insurance companies out of state.
Archie: interesting
me: and not only that, if hospitals run into problems with insurance companies OUT of state, we don't get any help AT ALL...
me: no oversight from the government AT ALL.... and already were having problems with insurance companies that aren't regulated by the state...this is gonna double our problems
Archie: dude you should blog about this!
me: i've been wanting to, but its a lot to write about.......... hahaha.
Archie: you just did it right now! cut and paste! hahahahaa ...i think we would all benefit from this coming from you since you're hella in the know on health stuff
me: hahahaha...maybe i'll copy paste our convo then...we'll see...I might have to edit... hahahahaha.
