Work

Here's a sense of what I do and what I deal with: Blue Cross & John Muir

The posted comments are pretty funny... Well, not really funny. Just funny if you deal with this on a daily basis. What people and health plans like Blue Cross don't realize is that Hospitals in California need to keep up with state mandates to keep nurse staffing ratios... Hospitals need funds to retrofit their buildings which is also an UNFUNDED state mandate.. AND Hospitals need to keep up with the salary increases that Unions keep demanding!!! If we didn't have to consider these huge 3 factors, then yeah, MAYBE we could decrease Contract rates.. but its not that easy. People and Health plans want better things.... more advanced procedures, more high tech equipment and we can't do that without the help of health plans paying us more money... And it doesn't help that the government (Medicare and Medi-Cal) don't pay crap... They don't even pay enough to cover costs of a procedure... And the uninsured? Who's paying for them? No one... The Hospitals eat the costs on uninsured patients who come into the ER all the time.. So you see, it ain't that easy...... There's definitely more to it than Hospitals just wanting an increase in their contracted rates.... And you know what... While this is all happening, your premiums are increasing, and CEOs of major health plans are making billions of dollars... Hey, the CEO of United Healthcare just got let go for backdating his stock options and he's leaving with at least a $1 billion.. Isn't that something?
